Procedure
Het NJO organiseert voor het EUYO in Nederland de audities voor kandidaten geboren in Nederland, met een Nederlands paspoort en/of woonachtig of studerend in Nederland. Voor studenten met andere nationaliteiten (binnen de Europese Unie, inclusief de Belgische) of woonplaatsen verwijzen we je naar de website van het EUYO.
Om je voor EUYO (en/of NJO) audities in Nederland aan te melden, heb je een NJO-account nodig. Je kunt je account altijd raadplegen en/of aanpassen wanneer dat nodig is.
Klik hier voor toegang tot je portal voor bestaande gebruikers, of maak een account aan (nieuwe gebruikers). Als je je aanmeldt accepteer je de regels en voorschriften voor audities van zowel NJO als EUYO.
Vereisten voor deelname aan audities EUYO in Nederland
1. Je leeftijd is 16 t/m 26 jaar oud op 31 december van het auditiejaar.
2. Je moet in het bezit zijn van een geldig EU-paspoort van een van de 27 EU-landen. Belangrijk: Verblijfsvergunningen of visa uit EU-landen tellen NIET mee.
3.Je kunt auditie doen voor de EUYO in Nederland als je hier bent geboren, woont, studeert of werkt.
4.We organiseren vanuit NJON in Nederland alleen live audities. Als je auditie wilt doen via video, raadpleeg dan het EUYO in welk ander land/op welke manier je auditie zou kunnen doen.
1e ronde EUYO Nederland
De eerste ronde audities voor het EUYO in Nederland (voorselectie) vindt plaats tijdens de auditiedagen voor het Nationaal Jeugdorkest (NJO). De juryleden van het NJO selecteren behalve kandidaten voor het NJO dus ook de musici voor de 2e ronde (hoofdronde) van het EUYO in Nederland. Als je voldoet aan zowel de voorwaarden voor het NJO als het EUYO kun je dus voor beide orkesten tegelijkertijd auditeren.
N.B. EUYO-leden van de afgelopen twee jaar, of kandidaten die in de afgelopen twee jaar op de reservelijst van het EUYO zijn geplaatst worden direct geplaatst in de 2e ronde (hoofdronde).
2e ronde EUYO Nederland
Audities voor de 2e ronde (hoofdronde) EUYO in Nederland vinden plaats op donderdag 26, vrijdag 27 en zaterdag 28 november.
Planning en productie (inclusief pianobegeleiding) worden geregeld door het NJO/NJON, maar de jurering en verdere communicatie van de resultaten is in handen van het internationale EUYO juryteam en de EUYO staf.
Voor alle audities geldt als deadline voor inschrijving zondag 20 september 2026

EUYO Auditions The Netherlands
In order to apply for the EUYO (and/or the NJO) in The Netherlands, you must create a personal NJO account or adjust your current NJO account. You can always consult and/or adjust your account when necessary.
Upon application you agree with the regulations for auditions from both NJO and EUYO.
Application requirements
Please make sure you are eligible before applying!
- You must be 16 to 26 years old on 31 December 2026.
- You must have a valid EU passport from one of the 27 EU countries.
Important: Residence permits or visas from EU countries do NOT count.
- You may audition for the EUYO in The Netherlands if you were born, live, study, or work here.
- We only organize live auditions. If you want to audition by video, please consult the EUYO in which other country/way you could audition.
EUYO Netherlands: 1st Round
The first round of auditions for the EUYO in the Netherlands (pre-selection) takes place during the audition days for the National Youth Orchestra (NJO). In addition to selecting candidates for the NJO, the NJO jury members also select musicians for the second round (main round) of the EUYO in the Netherlands. If you meet the eligibility criteria for both the NJO and the EUYO, you can audition for both orchestras simultaneously.
Note: EUYO members from the past two years, or candidates placed on the EUYO reserve list during that period, are automatically placed in the second round (main round).
EUYO Netherlands: 2nd Round
Auditions for the second round (main round) of the EUYO in the Netherlands will take place on Thursday 26, Friday 27, and Saturday 28 November. Planning and production (including piano accompaniment) are handled by the NJO/NJON, while the judging and subsequent communication of results are the responsibility of the international EUYO jury team and EUYO staff.

Second round EUYO
Woodwind players are encouraged to audition for additional instruments as well, although this is not required. Read more detailed information about additional instruments on our How to prepare page (under Auxiliary Instruments).
For both the first and last audition rounds of the EUYO, a pianist will be made available to accompany the solo work. EUYO candidates (except harpists and percussionists) are required to use this piano accompaniment for the auditions. The pianist rehearses with the candidate just before the audition.
Notes for percussionists:
No solo work is required, only (a selection of) from the orchestral excerpts
About the audition process in The Netherlands
The NJO organizes the auditions for the EUYO in the Netherlands for candidates born in the Netherlands, with a Dutch passport and/or living or studying in the Netherlands. For students with other nationalities (within the European Union, including Belgian) or places of residence, we refer to the EUYO website.
The auditions consist of a first round that can be combined with the audition in the autumn for the NJO. EUYO members must audition for a position in the EUYO every year, even if they have previously played or currently hold a position in the orchestra. Musicians who are already members of the EUYO, have been classified as ‘highly recommended’ or have been placed on the reserve list in the past 2 years are immediately invited to the second audition round.
Participation terms EUYO
The European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) is open to musicians aged 16 to 26 years on 31 December of the year in which the audition takes place. Application for EUYO is possible for all musicians holding a passport from one of the 27 current European Union Member States. Candidates may apply to audition in any EU Member State, providing that the country is the candidate’s country of birth, country of residence, country of study/work, or the country they hold a passport for.
